Franklin County is located in Florida’s Northwestern Panhandle approximately 80 miles southwest of the State capitol, Tallahassee. The county is comprised of 545 square miles and 348,800 acres making it one of the State’s largest counties. Franklin County serves more than 11,000 residents.

Franklin County Solid Waste & Recycling provides solid waste, hazardous waste disposal, and some recycling opportunities for Franklin County, Florida.

Franklin County Animal Control educates the public as well as enforces county and state laws dealing with domestic animals in our county.  Animal Control Officers respond to many calls each day that consist of trap requests, check welfare, running at large, injured animals, barking dog complaints, vicious animals, or animal bites, just to name a few.

Franklin County Parks & Recreation seeks to enrich the quality of life of the citizens we serve by providing safe and accessible facilities and programs that promote physical, mental, and social activities.  Our facilities get people, especially kids, outside, active, and connected to the community.  As we do this, there will be an increase in the wellness of our residents.

 

 

PUBLIC NOTICE: DW WILSON COMPLEX FACILITY CLOSURE
Please be advised that the DW Wilson Complex will be undergoing a lighting upgrade project to improve safety and functionality for the community.
Facility Closure Dates:
January 26, 2026 – March 15, 2026
(Dates are subject to change if delays occur.)
During this time, the complex will be unavailable for public use.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these important improvements. This upgrade will enhance the experience for all users once the complex reopens

Construction & Demolition - $65.00 Per Ton
White Goods - $65.00 Per Ton
Regular Tires - $2.50 Per tire up to 4 tires
Large Tires - $5.00 Per tire up to 4 tires
Over 4 Tires - $250.00 Per ton
Sludge - $17.00 Per Ton
Seafood Waste - $17.00 Per Ton

Franklin County’s goal is to maintain clean and safe roadsides. The uncontrolled and unsanitary right-of-way disposal of debris by residents in unincorporated areas, is strictly prohibited by Franklin County Ordinance No. 2016-06.
